Two-plus years after I released my private newsletter “On The Death Of Danny Casolaro,” there was a remarkable development.
I learned in February 1994 from journalist George Williamson — then with the Washington, D.C., bureau of the San Francisco Chronicle — that a copy of my newsletter somehow had ended up at CIA headquarters in McLean, Virginia, where it had been carefully reviewed by high-level agency analyst Dr. Frederick Von Bodungen. As he worked his way through it, he made handwritten annotations in the margins regarding what I had to say.
For whatever reason, Von Bodungen not only made a copy of his annotated version available to Williamson but even responded to follow-up questions. Williamson, in turn, provided copies of that annotated version to me and to former U.S. Attorney General Elliot Richardson, who was then in private law practice in Washington, D.C.
Especially startling among Von Bodungen’s commentary is his concluding admission that Danny Casolaro in 1991 was “killed by agents of the Justice Department.” Richardson’s own comments are equally revealing.
Now appended with this postscript are copies of my take on this disclosure in another private newsletter in February 1994, including related materials released at that time by Elliot Richardson. And among them, of course, is the annotated acknowledgment by Von Bodungen that Casolaro indeed was murdered by agents of the U.S. government, confirming suspicions held by many.
More postscripts will follow.
