After having been silent for some years, I have decided to do some additional posting on this website. And I will be doing so with the crucial assistance of colleague Nick Bartlett, still in Phoenix, for which I am very grateful. I produce in analog fashion. He then processes it into the requisite digital format.
For openers over a period of a few months or so, material will be posted concerning two extensive homicide investigations other than the fatal car-bombing of Phoenix reporter Don Bolles in 1976 which previously has dominated this website. While it still may come up on occasion, the initial focus of new postings will be a couple of other homicide investigations in which I was involved in the past in association with NBC-TV’s “Unsolved Mysteries.”
One of these is the 1977 homicide in Arizona’s Tucson area of escrow agent Charles Morgan. At the time he was engaged in money-laundering as an associate of the Bonanno Mafia Family there. He also was active in illicit black market gold sales for both the Bonanno organization and the CIA.
The second is the 1991 murder in Martinsburg, West Virginia, of Virginia based free-lance journalist Danny Casolaro. He was killed while investigating, among other things, the very clandestine CIA activity in which Morgan had been involved.
These new postings will begin with a copy of a private newsletter which I only distributed to a limited number of other journalists some years ago, then to be followed by several new postscripts (and a few related documents) with considerable additional information, now with all of this openly available to the public.
Thereafter, as time, energy, and my life span permit — I’m approaching 93 — more hopefully will follow. Meanwhile, I wish you all “bon voyage” through these memories of an aging investigative reporter.
